November 30 – December 21 | 4 Weeks
Instructor: Julie Glaude

Embrace the beauty of winter through the delicate and expressive world of watercolour! In this four-week painting series, we’ll explore winter-inspired subjects, from snowy landscapes and frosted trees to cozy seasonal scenes and the magic of winter light.

Learn new watercolour techniques, experiment with different styles, and discover how to capture the soft colours, textures, and atmosphere of the season. Whether you're building your skills or looking to explore your creativity, each class will offer guidance, inspiration, and the opportunity to create beautiful seasonal artwork.

Slow down, enjoy the creative process, and celebrate the magic of winter one brushstroke at a time!

No matter your experience level, come ready to explore, experiment, and embrace the season through art.

You will provide your own supplies. This allows you to practice and work on your projects at home with the right tools and materials.

Supply List

There are usually 2 standard types of watercolour paints, pan colours and tubes. We would prefer you buy the tubes if you can. It’s easier to apply.

Recommended colours:

  • Lemon Yellow

  • Cadmium Yellow Medium (a must have )

  • Yellow Ochre

  • Cadmium Red Medium (a must have)

  • Alizarin Crimson

  • Permanent Rose

  • French Ultramarine Blue ( a must have)

  • Cobalt Blue

  • Cerulean Blue

  • Burnt Umber or Burnt Sienna (a must have)

*later you may choose to buy more (it’s fun)

Tools

  • 2 jars for water

  • Pencil: 2H or HB

  • #1 round Nylon brush ( a smaller brush for detail)

  • #8 round Nylon brush (some companies vary in their sizes so don’t need to be super specific with these numbers)

  • #10 round Nylon

  • 1 inch flat Nylon brush

  • NOTE: you can buy a value pack just make sure it’s a watercolour set. Micheals has a great one for $17

  • Inexpensive #4 ( a small one) for applying masking fluid

    • You are welcome to have more brushes to experiment with

  • Masking fluid (also called Frisket, drawing gum.. )

  • Cold press 140-LB watercolour paper (arches or strathmore are strong suggestions. I would stay away from Artist Loft level 2 paper from Micheal’s, level 3 artist loft should be fine )

  • Water colour pencils ( a small pack you don’t need all the colours, a pack of 8 or so is good.)

  • Masking tape

  • Paint palette big enough for every colour to have a spot and space to mix paint.(a plastic one that can close or has a lid. I suggest a bigger one from Amazon, I can no longer find them in the local art stores)

  • Paper towel

  • Waterproof ultra fine tip sharpie

  • sponge (sea sponge pack from the dollar store works, or any sponge without the abrasive material)

  • MDF board or flat board to tape your paper to. (Any hard surface, a canvas board is a perfect option as well)

*Please note we only give partial refunds back in the event of emergencies only. This excludes sick days or no shows. Due to the nature of the business for our adult classes, we cannot do make up classes or give refunds for missed classes. We apologize for this inconvenience.
